Day 15

Pastor Kyhan Reid

Have you ever been in a situation or received some news that just cut you to your soul and you cried until you had no more physical strength? You cried until your tear ducts swelled and you didn’t even have any more tears coming from your eyes? You go through things in life that leaves you devasted, things that happen beyond your control.  You would never had predicted it or cannot explain or justify what has happened.  I am there right now. My family recently experienced the loss of my mother-in- law.  It was unexpected. Never in our wildest dreams did we think that my mother-in-law would be gone.  Her death has left our family devastated.  We find ourselves asking God, why her, why now? Why couldn’t things have been different?

You might be in a situation or heavy trial that is weighing you down right now.  Can I give you some bad news that has the twist to some good news?  Psalm 30:5 says for his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning. The bad news is, you may have to cry sometimes, or feel hurt, sorrow, or pain. The good news is joy comes in the morning. In other words, it’s ok to cry and let it out, but in the midst of your hurt, sorrow or pain, look ahead, a new and brighter day is coming.

You may be wondering; how can I possibly endure horrible situations and consider it joy?  Just know that God is with you. God promises to never leave or abandon you.  All you have to do is draw close to God and ask Him for help.  God loves you and is ultimately in control of your circumstances. Jesus says in John 15:11 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full”.

As we enter into this new year, the reality is, you may have to endure some things, and may be faced with some difficult situations. Trying to balance feelings of hurt, sorrow, or pain while moving forward with your everyday life may be a challenge that you have to face. Just know that God will be with you even in the darkest days, when devastation, hurt, sadness, and grief may overwhelm you. God will be there to help you get through your tough situations.  Your tough situations will not last forever.  Don’t give up.  Keep looking forward to that new morning of joy.  James 1:2-4 says “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.  And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing”.

I Thank You for being the God that you are and for keeping your promises.  Thank you for never leaving me and being there for me even in the midst of my difficult situations.  I am grateful to know that no matter what I may go through in this life, that weeping will be replaced with laughter, and pain with joy. I praise you and thank you for being the joy in my life.  Amen
