Just Say Yes
Pastor TJ (Tyron) Robinson
Have you ever felt like your prayers are unanswered? You are not alone. The prophet Daniel in the Bible is a great example. Daniel had a disciplined prayer life. Although, he was forced to be under new religious ways and thrown into a lions den, he never ceased praying.
We have to remember to pray without ceasing. (I Thessalonians 5:17) An angel told Daniel, Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.” “But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia.”
Daniel 10:12-13 NIV
Daniel had prayed and fasted for 3 weeks before he got his answer. Your persistence will pay off.
Scripture tells us that fasting is not an option.
“When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.”
Matthew 6:16 NIV
Jesus, says “When” not if. Fasting draws us closer to God.
Scripture contains examples where Jesus fasted to build intimacy with God. Fasting is a way to redirect your attention to what is important, your relationship with God. God desires to be with you. Spending time with Him while fasting
is a perfect way to build an intimate relationship with the Father.
Fasting is more than an act of obedience, it’s a gift to cultivate better habits and find peace in the presence of God.
So from today moving forward, we will say yes to the things of God and make fasting apart of your life.
Father, This year is a new beginning of me saying yes to whatever you have for my life. I know there is peace when I say yes. I want a prayer life that is pleasing to You. I realize that my life is better when I pray and fast. Therefore I am making fasting apart of my life. You’re will be done in my life. I thank you for life in abundance. I thank you that you not only hear my prayers but you have answered them. In Jesus name, Amen!
